An extremely hardy fast growing rush to 1 metre tall with leaves reduced to orange-brown sheaths and a small brown dense flowerhead. It can be used as a sand binder in some coastal locations, planted singly or in groups as a feature for mixed landscapes or mass planted in borders. It is ideal for planting around water features, ponds, dry creek beds or filtration beds.
