A trailing perennial groundcover with thick succulent green leaves that spreads 1 - 2 metres. This plant, also known as Australian pigface, has a showy display of mauve and white flowers with a yellow centre between September and January. It will grow in full sun and part shade, in clay to sandy soils, is drought and lime tolerant and suits coastal conditions. It can be used to bind soils and is considered a bush food with the fruit and leaves eaten raw or cooked by indigenous peoples.
