A densely tufted sedge with distinctive curly leaf tips. The flowers of this sedge are mauve to purple on tall erect stalks from October to January. It grows in wet heavy soils in seasonally wet sites and is often confined to a narrow belt of vegetation parallel to the upper edges of drainage lines or swamps.
