A tussock forming perennial with long narrow leaves that have rough rolled in margins and pendulous tips that grows up to 1.5 metres tall. Erect narrow dark brown flowers appear from October to November and shiny brown nuts are produced. This sedge is found in wetlands and provides habitat for frogs, mammals and birds. It requires moist well-drained sandy soils and can tolerate extended dry periods when established.
